Steel Shelters
are made with quality 12 gauge steel with all welded seams. These units are painted with epoxy primer and automotive enamel paint inside and out. New features include being coated with a high grade elastomeric coating. Our steel storm shelters have built in stairs, hand rails and benches. They are 6 foot tall inside. Including two 6 inch vents (One turbine and one stationary). The floor is welded to a 2 inch angle iron frame that protrudes one foot out on each side. During installation we place a 400 lb. concrete block on each side before back filling with dirt. These blocks with the dirt on top of them assure that the shelter will not float up from flooding or be pulled out by a tornado. We dig a hole approximately 42 inches deep to set the shelter in. The dirt from this hole is used to back fill around three sides of the storm shelter.
